Main title: The Journey of Wine
Subtitle: Wine to Glass
The poster uses a bunch of grapes as the visual center and combines Time (time flow) and Location (geographical production area) in the LATCH principle to organize information.
-Location: The map highlights five key countries associated with winemaking.
-Alphabet: Important terms related to winemaking are clearly categorized.
-Time: The growth of vines and the production process follow a sequential timeline.
-Category: Different components of winemaking (such as ingredients and production methods) are grouped systematically.
-Hierarchy: The elements are arranged to guide the viewer’s attention from the vine to the final product in the bottle.
- Progress
This is the website I used when designing the wine production process. It contains free small icons. I can directly copy the SVG and put it into my AI design.
1. From the trunk to the vine veins, each information mark will glow when it moves and light up the number. When the number is lit, the information next to it will appear and finally flow into the wine bottle.
2. The wine bottle falls to the left towards the five countries marked on the map.
- Progress
- I'll break down the poster’s static composition into a dynamic motion sequence.
- Define animation timing: how each glowing marker lights up, how text appears, and how the final bottle tilts toward the map.

Creating both the static and animated versions of The Journey of Wine has been a highly enriching design experience. The static poster challenged me to balance visual storytelling with data clarity. Starting from a simple grape illustration, I gradually integrated information flow using the LATCH principle, typographic hierarchy, and structured layouts. A key breakthrough was embedding the winemaking steps into grape “nodes” along a vine path, allowing viewers to visually travel from vineyard to glass.
In the animation, I focused on breathing life into the journey. I used path-based glowing animations to simulate the organic growth of the vine, with each grape step lighting up in sequence. These animations not only added depth, but also mirrored the natural rhythm of winemaking. The second part, where wine flows from the bottle into export regions, allowed me to tie data visualization with motion in a meaningful, intuitive way.
This project taught me how to evolve a static composition into a dynamic narrative without overwhelming the viewer. I became more confident in using tools like Illustrator for structured design and After Effects for controlled, purpose-driven animations. Most importantly, I learned that small motion cues — like ripples or flow paths — can transform information into emotional stories.
