PROJECTS:

EX1 / Audio Dubbing

In Project One, we received a short clip from everything everywhere all at once, along with a transcript of the subtitles. Our task was to create a Google Sheet that detailed a scene breakdown, including links to the corresponding sound effects and ambient sounds according to the timeline.

As part of a five-member team, I contributed by analyzing the timeline for 10-20 seconds. Once the scene details were recorded, I individually added the links to the sound effects and ambient sounds, matching them to the descriptions.

To gather the sound effects and ambiance sounds, I used these two websites:

Below is the completed sheet of Audio Breakdown:

EX1 / Audio Dubbing

EX2 / Sound Shaping

For this exercise, we were required to sound shape and edit audio to sound like a muffled, phone call, in an underground cave, and an alien.

To achieve these sounds, I edited each sound individually by adding effects in Adobe Audition.

Original Sound

Voice of phone call

The voice coming from inside of

Voice of toilet/bathroom

Underground cave

Alien/ Orc voice

REFLECTION:

Exercise 1 / AUDIO DUBBING
In this exercise, we were tasked with dubbing audio to match a given video. One of the main challenges was achieving proper synchronization between the recorded dialogue and the character’s lip movements. Initially, our timing was slightly off, making the speech appear unnatural. Background noise and inconsistent vocal energy also affected the overall quality.

Exercise 2 / SOUND SHAPING
The sound shaping exercise required us to manipulate and design audio to enhance a scene’s atmosphere. We experimented with different effects, layering, and equalization to achieve the desired mood. One challenge we faced was making artificial sounds feel organic and realistic. Some sound effects felt too harsh or out of place in the mix.
