As for our group, when conceiving the first assignment, our team members were still in the running-in stage. After several meetings and discussions, we came to the conclusion that since the first assignment is about cultural sensitivity under the cross-cultural theme, we chose to We are not that unfamiliar with Malaysian Chinese culture. Week 1 Class (Tutorial&Practical)
The first day we had an online class:
Then, we listen to Ms. Anis's lecture on cultural sensitivity in design and understand the framework that she shared in the lecture. It is not about whether I can do X topic or Y topic, but rather what is the approach? How is it in relation to theme of 'cultural sensitivity'?
Week 2 Class
We started offline classes on week2, and the teacher given a breakdown of the task for assignments. Then we were broken into groups consisting of 6 people. I'm in Group 51. For Task3:
As the leader of the painting team, I first drew a rough sketch, and then assigned the sketch to three people, who completed the part I assigned and finally handed it to me. My job was to complete their stitching work and color the picture.
Then, I finished all the Power Print by myself:
My overall ppt design concept comes from the "cultural sensitivity" mentioned by the teacher in class on the first day. Including my design of the final work, can also exactly reflect the subject.
The ppt of my speech is about the final design work of our group.
Feedback:
-Week 4
Since this was our first group assignment and we didn't know each other well enough, we didn't have a clear division of labor for many tasks, so it took a long time to do them.
-Week 6
With the experience and lessons of the last time, we have a clear division of labor this time, although the process is very difficult, but fortunately, everyone finally completed the task successfully.
Final Reflection:
Overall, learning cultural sensitivity inspires us to be aware of the diversity and difference in the world, encourages us to be more inclusive and open to different cultures, improves our communication skills and problem-solving abilities, and encourages us to actively seek opportunities for cross-cultural exchanges and cooperation to promote the progress and development of human society.
Also, working in groups taught us the importance of teamwork and improved our communication and collaboration skills. It also enables us to listen to others' points of view, respect and understand different opinions and working styles, develop problem-solving skills, and promote mutual assistance and support.
I think this is a process of self-growth, and I need to constantly learn, reflect and work hard. Learning how to identify clear goals and develop actionable plans to achieve those goals is very important.
